Made by Mallan are a husband and wife team with an interest in art and design.

Jean graduated from Glasgow School of Art in Jewellery and Silversmithing, including a post graduate year and worked as a jewellery designer and goldsmith in Switzerland and London. Later she had a long career as a senior lecturer in three dimensional design at Portsmouth University. When she retired she decided to take up printmaking, something she had done and enjoyed at art school. She works with its different forms, etching, lino cutting, silk screen as well as mono prints Currently her work is inspired by the natural landscape, either real or imaginary. “My aim is to inform and emphasise print making as an art form”.

Dave developed an interest in photography to support his wife Jean in her work with her students. Since then he has continued to develop his photographic skills and his current interests include textures, reflection and urban scenes. He often uses post processing techniques to enhance images or to create different forms, sometimes pushing them beyond reality. Many of his photographs have been taken abroad where there are still old buildings standing, seemingly as a monument to their past occupants.
